MSK-HRP-03D is a 8" Dia x 10" width  (200 mm D x 250 mm W)  hot rolling press with maximum working temp. up to 120C. The temperature of two rollers is individually controlled by two PID temp. controllers to achieve better heating uniformity and control accuracy. This tool is ideal for calendering battery electrodes, plastics media, and soft metal foils... Typical usage is to increase the material density and achieve better surface quality. The gap between two tool steel rollers can be adjusted freely from 0~2mm. (Updated to two zones heated and 120oC working temp from 8/1,2017))

Temperature Controllers

  • Two independent temperature controllers enable Dual-zone temperature control for the upper and lower rollers.
  • 120°C maximum for less than one hour (<110°C continuously)
  • Recommended Heating Rate: ~3°C/minute

Application Notes
  • Never roll materials with hardness > 50HRC
  • In order to prolong the lifespan of the roller bearings, regular lubrication is recommended. 
  • Multi-step thickness calendering needed: While calendering the sample sheet, make each calendering decrement of 0.02mm comparing to sheet original thickness.
  • Clean roller surface for each rolling  and Use acetone to clean and lubricate  when not in use to avoid corrosion
  • It is not allowed to use any hazardous location, especially in Class I environments (flammable gasses & vapor).

  • This rolling press can be used to make free-standing 2D metal nanosheets by a repeated process of folding and calendaring stacked metal sheets (See reference below)
