Induction Heater:
EQ-VTC-200S is a benchtop vacuum melt spinning system for preparing amorphous metallic ribbons. In this technique, metal ingots are melted via the induction heating method and then propelled by overpressurizing the crucible. A thin stream of molten is then dropped onto a fast-spinning surface of a cold copper drum. This causes rapid quenching & solidification of the molten and thus form the ribbon (< 10 mm width) of the liquid metal alloy.
The system features an SS air-tight chamber with a front observation window. A turbo backed by a dual-stage oil pump is optional for achieving a high vacuum up to 10^-6 torr. The unit provides inlet and outlet valves for inert gas purging. This helps to protect samples from moisture or oxygen exposure during the melt spinning process. The user can also control the RPM of the drum, induction heating power, temperature, and pressure applied to the crucible.


  • The optional 7 KW, 15KW or 35KW induction heating system for treating different materials with different melting points with 10 - 20g Max melting capability based on the melting point and viscosity of melton
  • 200mm diameter copper flywheel with max. 31 meters /sec. spinning speed
  • Crucible to copper wheel distance adjustable 0~10mm (manual adjustment)
  • Vacuum casting attachment is included as a great add-on to make casting part

  • All functional controls in one digital panel: Temperature & induction power control, copper drum spinning speed & ON/OFF, Mechanical & Turbo Pump ON/OFF, solenoid valves for pump isolation and gas purging, Melt-Spinning ON/OFF
Vacuum Chamber

  • Stainless steel vacuum chamber: 300 x 300 x 480 mm
  • Hinged type door with quartz observation window (120mm dia.)
  • Vacuum level: 5 x10 E^-5 torr within 30 minutes by turbopump
  • KF40 vacuum port is built to the chamber. Please choose a vacuum pump at the link below:

Induction Heater

  • Please choose Induction Heater from the options bar
  • Max. sample load: 5 - 20g (material melting point < 1000°C)
  • Max. working temperature: 1800°C
  • Temperature controller with Thermal couple is optional upon request at an extra cost 
  • A precision temperature controller is integrated with B type TC (24'' long) insert inside the heating crucible
  • 30 segments temperature profile programmable with +/- 2°C accuracy
  • Coils with different sizes are available optionally
  • Note: Water cooling for the induction heater is needed
  • Two quartz crucibles with an orifice of 1mm dia. are included for materials of melting point < 1200ºC
  • Customized crucibles made of quartz, alumina, or BN are available upon request at extra cost
  • Optional graphite casing assembly (graphite casing+quartz insulation+larger induction coil in diameter) are also available upon request at extra cost for refractory and low permeability materials(Please refer to the pictures below and Application Notes for more details)
Pressure Regulator 

  • Pneumatic solenoid valves are used to isolate the pumps from the chamber when not used, chamber purging, and pressure relief
Spinning Wheel
  • Copper flywheel without water cooling (200 mm Dia. x 40 mm W)
  • 0 - 31 meter / second (2850 RPM max.) adjustable
  • Max. Speed: 3000 RPM
  • Max. Ribbon width: 12 mm (depended on the nozzle of crucible)
  • The water-cooling wheel is available upon request with extra cost

Collecting Drum
  • Spun and solidified material is collected by the vacuum-sealed drum.
  • Drum length: 300 mm
  • The extended length of the cylinder is available at an extra cost

Application Notes

  • Material testing using melt-spinning is available, otherwise, we use NbFeB as the standard for testing before shipping
  • Please be advised that not every material can be melt spun.  In order to achieve melt-spinning successfully,  the material melt must have a proper viscosity.  It is the customer's responsibility to find the right composition, crucible size, and power supply
  • Ferromagnetic metals are generally responsive to induction heating. For refractory materials, e.g. materials with high melting point (>1200ºC) or low permeability (μ/μ0<100), please consider using BN crucibles with graphite casing for the best performance
  • The equipment also can be modified into casting and granulating furnace
