EQ-PSC is a split-able and air-tight coin cell set with a sleeve made out of Nylon or PEEK. The split cell can be placed in a lab press and applied pressure up to 20 MPa, which is designed for researching the effect of pressure on solid-state battery performance. It can also be used for easy coin cell assembling without any screw and crimping tools. It can be customized into various sizes (8, 10, 12, 15, 20, and 25 mm diameter) to accept all sizes of electrodes and separators. (Please choose the size and material from Product Options) Note: Customized (Au-coated) test cells are non-returnable and non-exchangeable. MTI has granted the patent 2016205216100 for the Pressure Controlled (up to 20 MPa) Split Coin Cell - EQ-PSC since June 2016.
SPECIFICATIONS
Structure & Material
|
- Pushing rods (top and bottom) are made of stainless steel. (Gold plating is available upon request at an extra cost)
- Sleeve Material: Nylon or PEEK is selectable at the product option.
- Poly Ether Ether Ketone (PEEK) is a semicrystalline thermoplastic with excellent mechanical and chemical resistance properties that are retained to high temperatures. (Click here to see properties)

Instruction on How to Use
|
- Simply put the electrode, separator, and electrolyte materials into the die with no screws required
- Place the die into a compact lab press to apply pressure without crimping (click pics 1-2 to order lab press)
- Connect the current leads from pushing rods to a battery analyzer for testing
- You may use digital press ( Pic3 ) to apply pressure more easily
- You may use a thickness fixture (Pic 4) to measure the expansion of the assembled battery during charging & discharging
- You may use a digital press to apply pressure ( Pic. 5)

Optional Heating Condition
|
- For higher working temperatures and pressure applications, please choose Si3N4 ceramic die as an option. (Pic.1)
- To test a solid-state cell at heating conditions (<250°C), please select a heatable Si3N4 solid-state cell combination that includes a heating jacket and a temperature control unit. (Pic.2)
- To study the performance of solid-state battery materials under different pressures and temperatures, please order a heating and pressurizing analysis system. (Pic.3)

Max. Working Temperature and Max. Working Pressure
|
- Max. 300 MPa (PEEK, room temperature, good alignment)
- 150ºC (Peek) 20 Mpa pressure
- 90ºC (Nylon) 20 Mpa pressure
- Max. force: 20 x 3.14 RxR x 10 ( Kg) -- (R = Pushing rod diamer)
- The above pressure is applying on the cell sample, not the reading pressure on the press.
|
Warranty |
- Please put die in the center positiom and keep pressure less than 20 MPa ( totoal force/ die aear ), otherwise die and pushing rod may broken, and
- No warranty for misuse and broken
