Computerized Tool
KSL1700X-H5 is larger box furnace designed for material synthesis under hydrogen or inert gas atmosphere up to 1700 ºC. The furnace consists of high quality alumina fiber bricks and Mo alloy heating elements with a heating chamber of 30"x 30"x35", as well as a vacuum-sealed steel case with water cooling jacket and automatic H2 burning system. It is an ideal tool for preparing new materials which requires reduced atmosphere, such as phosphorous and Ti alloy, and also heat treating materials under inert gas.

Furnace structure
  • Double layer stainless steel structure for maximum vacuum and safety, which can endure a positive pressure up to 1MP and vacuum up to 10E-2 Torr
  • Water cooling front door and air cooling shell
  • Built in pressure gauge, vacuum valves and two gas float meters
  • Built in H2 burning control system --- if the controller detects no flame in burner, gas delivery valve will be shut down automatically    
Inside Chamber Size
  • Heated chamber: 800x 800x 900 mm (30x30x35 inch), 576 Liter
  • Energy saving 1800 grade fibrous alumina insulation
  • High purity Al2O3 coating
  • The chamber is water cooling from ourside by 1/4" stainless stell pipe weld on
  • Warning: One Al2O3 fibrous door block is included. You must place the door block in the front the chamber to block heat radiation, otherwise may damage seal ring at high temperature and cause hydrogem gas leaking
Safety Vlaves
Two safety valves are installed on the chamber
  • One is disc check valve: once pressure > 5 PSI , the disc will crack and release chamber pressure
  • Anoter is sspring poston check valve, once pressure > 15PSI, the valve will open to releae pressure and close when pressure reduced

Heating Elements

  • 9 sets of Mo coils heating elements are built in , and replaceable 
  • The heating element of Mo coil is consumable parts which should be ordered seperately if extra sets are required.  ( order  picture below left to order spare )
  • Warning:   Mo heating element can not be used under air or oxygen at the temperature > 300°C

Temperature Control

  • PID automatic control via SCR (Silicon Controlled Rectifier) power control with phase angle fired, current limiting resistor.
  • 30 programmable segments for precise control of heating rate, cooling rate and dwell time.

  • Built in PID Auto-Tune function with overheating & broken thermocouple broken protection.
  • Over temperature protection and alarm allows for operation without attendant(s).

    • The furnace may be operated by PC by installing a control module. Please order a MTS-02 control module at extra cost.

Gas Flow Control
Vacuum Valve
  • Two large flow meters (N2: 0~3.5L/min, H2: 0~3.5L/min) are installed in the front panel of furnace.
  • One for purging Inert gas prior to introducing H2 gas
  • One for controlling H2 gas flow
  • KF40 vacuum pump build in to connect a vacuum p
  • Vacuum pump may need , but not included
H2 Gas Burning Control System
  • An ignition device already installed to incinerate flowing gas and detect burner temperature to ensure H2 burner is in working condition. If H2 does not burn properly, the controller will shut down the H2 gas delivery valve immediately.
  • Warning:  You must install a certified Hydrogen detector in operation facility to alarm hydrogen leaking b accident.  If you can not find in local store, please click link below to order 3M hydrogen detector from us at extra cost.
Water Cooling (optional )

A 16L/min recirculating water chiller is installed bottom furnace for cooling furnace sealing flange.  ( CE certified only )

Application Notes

  • Please EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION. H2 gas is highly flammable and explosive. H2 ignites at a temperature of 400°C, an explosion could occur when the hydrogen content reaches 4.0%-74. 2% in the air, please strictly follow the rules below to for safety operation.
  • Inert gas MUST be used to purge the furnace chamber to eliminate all the air before introducing the H2 gas.
  •  The pressure inside the chamber should ALWAYS be controlled at 0.01-0.02 Mpa above the standard atmospheric pressure during the entire heating process, otherwise, the oxygen in the air may backflow into the furnace chamber and cause explosion in the worst case scenario.
  •  Pressure over 0.02Mpa or below -0.05Mpa (Relative Pressure) is strictly prohibited.
  •  ALWAYS place the furnace in a room with fume hood and a hydrogen detector installed.
  • Good ventilation is necessary for the room in which place the furnace
  • Exhausting Hydrogen gas in the room is forbidden.
  • Must be used under inert gas or hydrogen gas environment
  • For preserving the longevity of the furnace components, we recommend the heating rate not to exceed 10 °C /min.
  • Small cracks may appear on the surface of the refractory ceramics over extended use. This is a normal occurrence and the cracks may be repaired with alumina coating.

  • Attention: Due to the high pressure gas output from the gas cylinder, it is necessary to install the gas pressure regulator with it to reduce the output pressure, avoid overpressurizing the furance chamber and ensure a safe operation. Click here to learn the installation of a gas regulator.
